Position Summary:
(12-month contract position - Maternity leave coverage)
Afternoon – 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm (Can change as per the business need)
The Label Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all product labelling activities to ensure compliance with CFIA regulations, food safety standards, and company requirements. This role supports production operations by verifying label accuracy, maintaining documentation, monitoring compliance, and collaborating with Quality Assurance and Production teams to ensure all finished products are correctly labelled prior to distribution. The position also provides training and guidance to team members, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and assists in maintaining efficient and error-free labelling processes.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Ensuring that all product labels (ingredients, nutrition facts, allergen information, barcodes, expiry dates) comply with CFIA and provincial food labelling regulations.
· Inspecting and verifying finished packaged products to ensure labelling accuracy and compliance before distribution.
· Training and guiding team members on labelling procedures, quality standards, and food safety requirements.
· Create new labels in Bar Tender software based on new product launch or changes in existing product
· Monitoring daily labelling operations, resolving discrepancies, and recommending corrective actions.
· Coordinating with Quality Assurance, Regulatory and Production departments to approve and update label templates.
· Maintaining records of label versions, approvals, and corrective measures in accordance with company standards
· Assisting in developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
· Preparing reports on labelling performance, compliance checks, and team productivity.
· Support continuous improvement initiatives related to packaging, traceability, and regulatory compliance.
· Undertake other related tasks as needed to support departmental operations
· Other duties as assigned by Manager
Education, Experience & Competency Requirements:
· Must have strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
· Proficient ability to speak, read, write and take direction in English
· Good mathematical and troubleshooting skills
· Knowledge of GMP’s, HACCP and SQF principles is preferred
· Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities simultaneously in order to meet deadlines
· Able to work in a fast-paced work environment and have good attention to detail
· Positive attitude and the ability to work effectively with a team as well as work independently as needed
· Ability to engage in routine walking, standing, bending and carry items weight up to 40 lbs plus for extended periods of time
