Job Summary
We are on the look out for a talented and passionate Pastry Cook to join our pastry team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the food industry and a love for creating delicious pastries and desserts. As a Pastry Cook, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of baked goods, ensuring high standards of food safety, and contributing to the overall success of our kitchen.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake a wide range of French baked goods, including croissants, danishes, breads, entremets, cookies and cakes.
- Laminate dough for croissants and danishes, ensuring proper layering and texture.
- Mix, shape, and proof breads to achieve consistent quality and flavor.
- Assemble and finish entremets and cakes, focusing on technique and presentation.
- Monitor baking times and temperatures.
- Work with various doughs, batters, and fillings, maintaining consistency across batches.
- Handle ingredient preparation, including weighing an measuring as needed.
- Package finished products for display or sale, ensuring quality presentation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation throughout production.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a pastry cook or baker.
- A culinary or related certification is an asset.
- Strong technical skills in baking techniques, particularly with laminated doughs, breads and delicate desserts.
- Able to communicate and read English.
- Food Safe Level 1.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Keen attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality baked goods.
- Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Availability to work early mornings and weekends as needed.
- Physically fit, able to lift 25kg, and are able to work on your feet for 8 hours.
