Become a vital team member of our family-run waste and recycling company at our Mission transfer station and recycling facility. We are looking for a General Labourer / Yard Person to sort recyclable materials, keep the yard organized, support safe material flow, and assist with daily work around the facility. This is an outdoor, hands-on role in a busy industrial yard. The right person will be physically capable, reliable, safety-minded, and willing to work in all weather conditions.
Equipment experience is not required. Wheel loader experience would be a strong asset, as this role may include moving materials, organizing piles, and loading bins or trailers once trained and authorized.

Responsibilities:
- Sort recyclable materials from roll-off bin loads of construction and demolition waste, including wood, metal, concrete, cardboard, garbage, and other designated materials.
- Perform general yard labour, including site cleanup, sweeping, organizing material areas, and keeping work areas safe.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and maintaining efficient material flow through the facility.
- Follow all site safety rules, environmental requirements, and company policies.
- Communicate with equipment operators, drivers, scale staff, and supervisors to coordinate yard activity.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions, contamination issues, equipment concerns, or unusual materials.
- Use basic hand tools and yard equipment safely as required.
- Operate a wheel loader if experienced, trained, and authorized.
- Perform other general labour and yard duties as needed.
Requirements:
- Strong work ethic and ability to perform physical outdoor work, including lifting, carrying, sorting, and moving construction materials throughout the day.
- Comfortable working in a busy industrial yard around trucks, bins, heavy equipment, noise, dust, and changing weather.
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented.
- Positive attitude and willingness to get your hands dirty.
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely around moving equipment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility and willingness to perform a variety of tasks as needed.
- Experience in waste management, recycling, construction, landscaping, farming, warehousing, or general labour is an asset.
- Wheel loader experience is a strong asset, but not required.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Reliable transportation or ability to reliably commute to Mission is required.
We are open to training the right person. Equipment experience is not required for this role.
