Our Story: Bar Down Bakery is a community-forward charitable bakery. Specializing in unique coffee beverages, bakery classics and irresistible fusions of your favourite baked goods, Bar Down Bakery offers a taste experience like no other. After launching in 2023 and becoming famous for their 'brookies' (which are the perfect fusion between a cookie and a brownie) Bar Down Bakery expanded upon their offerings to include freshly baked breads, beautifully crafted viennoiserie and unique fusions, like their 'cro-nuts.' They proudly donate a portion of proceeds to KidSport, as well as a variety of other local charities, and are on a mission to serve irresistible baked goods, that do good for their community.

Compensation:
$18 - $22/hr +tips with opportunity to increase with proven experience and skills
Schedule:
- Shift times may range between 5am - 3pm
- A successful candidate should be prepared to work weekdays and weekends.
- Full time availability
Responsibilities and General Job Description:
- Can work both independently and with a team
- Assisting the Head and Sous Pastry Chefs with daily production (breads, croissants and various pastries)
- Mixing our signature 'brookie' doughs
- Ability to learn and adapt to new tasks quickly
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
- Must have experience in commercial/professional baking, or a strong foundation/understanding
A day in your life:
5am: Start the day by loading the proofer with our breads and pastries, then commence with baking
7:30am: Start to load the display case for the day to get ready to open
9am: Start to proof the second round of baking for the day
11am: Complete the baking cycles for the day and clean up your station. Transition to prep.
12pm: Spend the rest of your shift prepping. This may include making ganaches, whipped creams, cold foams, syrups and more, along with our signature brookie dough and breads.

Requirements:
- Must be available to work weekends.

- Must have reliable transportation to get to work
- Have your Food Safe Level 1
‘Bonus Marks’:
- Certification from an acknowledged pastry/culinary school or program
