About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious engineering professional to help lead process improvement, plant modernization, operational efficiency, and technical innovation within our growing electroplating facility.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who wants real responsibility and the opportunity to make a major impact inside a manufacturing operation. The successful candidate will work closely with the Production Manager to improve operational performance, scale production capacity, modernize systems, and help drive accountability throughout the facility.
The ideal candidate is technically capable, organized, assertive, and comfortable managing both engineering projects and operational challenges in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Support & Leadership
- Assist the Production Manager in overseeing daily plant operations and production performance
- Help lead production staff and ensure difficult or critical tasks are completed properly and on schedule
- Drive accountability, efficiency, and operational discipline on the production floor
- Work directly with operators, maintenance personnel, and management to improve workflow and plant performance
- Support initiatives focused on increasing production capacity and operational scalability
- Help identify production bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve throughput and efficiency
- Demonstrate strong self-motivation and leadership in driving projects forward independently
Technology & ERP Implementation
- Help drive adoption of new technologies, digital systems, and operational improvements throughout the facility
- Assist with ERP implementation, process integration, and operational tracking systems
- Ensure production personnel properly adopt and utilize new systems and technologies
- Train and support staff during operational and technological transitions
- Help improve data collection, reporting, traceability, and production visibility
Process Improvement & Engineering
- Analyze and optimize plating processes, chemical systems, and production flow
- Troubleshoot plating defects, inefficiencies, and equipment issues
- Lead initiatives related to process modernization, equipment upgrades, automation, and operational improvements
- Develop and improve SOPs, process documentation, and operational procedures
- Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
SR&ED & Technical Documentation
- Lead and support the company’s SR&ED (Scientific Research & Experimental Development) initiatives
- Identify eligible process improvement, experimentation, and technical development activities
- Maintain detailed technical logs, process records, testing data, and project documentation
- Assist in preparing technical reports and supporting documentation for SR&ED claims
- Track experiments, process changes, equipment trials, and operational improvements in a structured and organized manner
Quality Control & Technical Oversight
- Perform inspections on plated components to ensure compliance with customer specifications
- Monitor plating quality, thickness, adhesion, and appearance standards
- Investigate quality concerns and implement corrective actions
- Improve process consistency and overall production reliability
Design & Technical Support
- Assist with equipment layouts, process flow improvements, and plant modifications
- Support engineering and fabrication projects using CAD software
- Work with maintenance and fabrication teams on custom solutions and equipment upgrades
QualificationsRequired
- Degree or diploma in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
- Strong leadership mindset with the ability to take initiative and hold teams accountable
- Self-motivated with the ability to independently drive projects and improvements
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and documentation practices
- Comfortable working both in the office and directly on the production floor
- Strong communication and decision-making abilities
Assets
- Experience in electroplating, manufacturing, or industrial processing
- Experience supporting or leading production operations
- Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing technology integration
- Knowledge of quality control systems and industrial operations
- SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD experience
- Experience with process improvement, automation, or equipment design
- Familiarity with SR&ED documentation and technical reporting
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment or industrial chemical systems
