Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Compounding Supervisor to join our team. The Compounding Supervisor is responsible for preparing and compounding formulations in accordance with standard operating procedures and regulations, supervising and providing direction to Compounding Associates
Responsibilities
- Handle Materials and solutions with efficiency and accuracy
- Supervise and mentor compounding associate(s)
- Compounding batches per SOPs and Master formulas. Report discrepancies and deviations in a timely manner to Production Manager.
- Identifying and staging raw materials and ingredients to begin batching process.
- Processing batches per instruction sheet and batching schedule.
- Collaborating with Production for line changeovers and tank connections plus specialty products, as required.
- Perform start-up and shutdown procedures for all vessels.
- Identify and report problems concerning equipment and materials to Production Manager.
- Perform minor repairs to the facility and equipment where applicable.
- Disassemble, clean, sanitize, reassemble and store manufacturing equipment as per standard operating procedures.
- Perform tasks according to standard operating procedures, policies and Good Manufacturing practices (GMPs).
- Complete GMP and other documents accurately and completely, such as the batch records, cleaning & sanitizing logs, housekeeping logs and other documents / log records pertaining to manufacturing.
- Trouble shooting minor batching issues.
- Perform verification checks for equipment (scales, mixers, pH meters etc.) used in manufacturing as per predefine time periods.
- Checks meters, scales, load cells, temperature indicators, mix indicators and other manufacturing equipment for proper calibration/accuracy.
- Responsible for working in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures; properly uses personal protection and safety equipment as required, reports any injury or illness immediately and notifies Production Manager or General Manager of any hazards, unsafe acts or conditions in the workplace.
- Assist the research and development chemist with new formulation scale ups as required.
- Liaising with the Compounding Supervisor, Production Manager, QA Manager, R&D Chemist and General Manager.
- Assist with filling equipment set up and troubleshooting
- Fill products on a scheduled timeline to improve productivity times and meet daily goals while maintaining a sanitary work environment.
- Dismantle, clean and sanitize equipment used during production to have inspected by quality assurance personnel.
- Understand cycle time concepts and sources of unreliability to focus on critical areas of improvement.
- Ensure that work environment is maintained clean, safe and organized.
- Ensure that the manufactured product meets customer specifications.
- Assist Production Manager in preparing production plan and budget.
- Stay up-to-date with production processes and procedures.
- Analyze root causes of production issues and assist Production Manager and QAP to develop corrective actions.
- Required to perform other related duties as assigned.
Experience
- Minimum post-secondary education is required in a related field. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
- 2+ years compounding or batch mixing experience is required.
- Prefer a background in personal care/cosmetics or in chemical compounding or related experience.
- Job experience and knowledge related to blending equipment, valves, piping, filling, cooling and heating pumps, heat exchanger and processing equipment required. Possess strong mechanical aptitude.
- The qualified candidate requires excellent skills in communication, problem-solving, decision-making, prioritizing work, organizing and getting the necessary information from relevant sources.
- Understanding of application of Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Must be able to actively listen and receive coaching and applicable training.
- An independent, organized self-starter & team player who can assess needs and deliver results.
- Proficient in weights & measures.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to details and ability to manage information.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds & move around 55-gallon drums.
- Ability to do basic math which includes but is not limited to, additions, subtraction, division, multiplication, and percentages.
- Ability to operate forklift, straddle stacker, pallet jack and drum lifter to transport raw materials and finished products.
- Experience with the cleaning and sanitization process of all manufacturing and/or compounding equipment.
- Must be able to convert weight measurements and use different kinds of scales.
- Accountable for all actions and/or results
- Willing to work occasional overtime.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 44.0 per week
