Job Summary:
This position is a unionized role within our production team. As a Shipper/Receiver, you will be required to learn, understand, and put into practice all our policies and procedures to help manufacture the highest quality products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will routinely perform your duties with minimal supervision, independently, and in a team with another operator. You must be able to work in an environment with many distractions, maintaining a high level of accuracy and safety, while performing your duties. No travel is required for this position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform daily walks around your work area to ensure guards and safety devices are in place
- Perform checks on safety equipment and record results as part of an ongoing safety program
- Follow & abide by all fork truck safety standards, Henry Plant Safety Rules.
- Pick / Pack daily orders according to customer and following company requirements
- Bulk loading and unloading, and inventory control of raw materials
- Ability to communicate with carriers and customers regarding order pick-up.
- Put stock away in proper locations.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment.
- Utilize the scanning guns to complete timely and accurate inventory transactions.
- Report any inventory shortages / issues to supervisor daily.
- Participate in Plant wide physical inventories when scheduled.
- Capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency in achieving results
- Perform other duties as required
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail
- Working knowledge of safety standards WHMIS
- Ability to work independently without supervision and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to uphold confidentiality
- Ability to work overtime to meet customer requirements
Education and Experience:
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Certified/Licensed forklift operator.
- 2 to 3 years experience in a fast-paced material handling position preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Capable of lifting to 50lbs.
- Knowledge of spill cleanups and response, as well as WHMIS/GHS procedures.
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing Plant environment where the plants may be dirt, dusty, and hotter/colder than office settings.
- Morning Shift- 7:00 am – 3:00 pm. Monday - Friday. OT as required.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Used:
- Eye and hearing protection is required at all times on the production floor.
- Safety toe shoes (steel/composite) on the production floor.
- Other PPE as defined by management within the assigned department.
