About The Butcher Shoppe
For over 40 years, The Butcher Shoppe has proudly earned its reputation as one of Ontario’s most trusted names in premium, custom-cut meats. From our beginnings as a small local butcher to serving some of the province’s most respected hotels, casinos, restaurants, and event venues, our commitment to craft, quality, and service has remained unwavering.
Today, we are entering our next phase of growth. With ambitious plans to expand and scale over the next five years, we are investing heavily in our future, including major facility expansions and a full SAP S/4HANA implementation that will transform how we operate at scale. It is an exciting time to be part of The Butcher Shoppe story as we build on our legacy and modernize for the future.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a detail-oriented, process-driven Accounting Analyst to join our growing finance team at a pivotal moment in our business transformation. This is a broad, hands-on role that touches Accounts Payable, General Accounting, and a high-visibility SAP S/4HANA implementation, giving the right candidate exceptional exposure across the full finance function.
Reporting directly to the Senior Director, Controller, this role owns the day-to-day AP function, supports period-end close and audit, and plays a key role in the rollout of our SAP implementation and Makira AP Automation platform. There are no direct reports.
If you are a CPA candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to be part of something bigger than a journal entry, this is your opportunity.
What You Will Do
Accounts Payable
- Manage the AP mailbox end-to-end, triaging and actioning vendor invoices in a timely and organized manner.
- Lead the digitization of all incoming invoices, building a consistent and scalable paperless AP process.
- Prioritize and set up vendor payments in the banking system, ensuring accuracy and appropriate authorization.
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships, handling inquiries, statement reconciliations, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring smooth communication.
SAP Implementation Support
- Serve as a key contributor on the SAP S/4HANA implementation project, with a focus on AP-related processes and workflows.
- Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) for Makira, our incoming AP Automation platform, ensuring processes are validated and ready for go-live.
- Document current-state and future-state AP processes to support training, testing, and system configuration activities.
- Partner with finance leadership and the project team to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement through technology.
General Accounting
- Prepare and maintain bank reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciling items are resolved promptly.
- Prepare month-end accruals and journal entries as part of the period close process.
- Support the period-end close cycle, ensuring deadlines are met and the general ledger is complete and accurate.
- Support the annual external audit by preparing working papers, gathering documentation, and responding to auditor requests in a timely manner.
What You Bring
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation in progress is strongly preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with solid exposure to AP and general accounting functions.
- Strong understanding of full-cycle AP processes including invoice processing, vendor reconciliations, and payment runs.
- Experience in fast-paced, high-volume environments such as distribution, food service, manufacturing, or a comparable industry.
- ERP experience is an asset; prior exposure to SAP or AP automation platforms (such as Makira, Coupa, or similar) is a strong plus.
- Proficient in Excel; comfortable working with accounting systems and adapting to new technology.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities without losing accuracy.
- Strong communicator who works collaboratively and builds trusted relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders alike.
- Energized by process improvement, digitization, and contributing to a business that is actively transforming.
