Defend Environmental Ltd. is seeking a Part-time or Full-time Labourer to join our team. We are a local, family-owned environmental services company that values teamwork, integrity, and a strong work ethic. Position Overview:
The Labourer will be helping with facility maintenance, small construction projects, HAZMAT facility labour tasks, and other industrial facility related tasks. This position does not require prior expertise or education in the field, as the worker can be trained alongside our experienced and tight-knit team. This role supports facility operations by ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine facility maintenance tasks with the direction of a team lead
- Keep the shop and work areas clean, organized, and safe
- Assist with deliveries and pickups of materials and equipment
- Drive company vehicles to transport supplies, equipment, and personnel
- Load and unload trucks, ensuring accurate inventory management
- Follow applicable provincial, federal, and company protocols to maintain safety and environmental regulations, reporting any hazards or maintenance concerns
- Complete basic paperwork accurately, such as delivery logs, tickets, inspection forms, and inventory records
- Assist in setting up and dismantling equipment for projects
- Support larger project teams by providing general labour as needed
- Be available for out-of-town assignments as required
- Show initiative to learn how to operate heavy equipment (skid steer, excavator)
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety procedures
- Collaborative team-working skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in physically strenuous environments in a variety of weather conditions, including working outdoors during winter and summer
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting
Work Environment:
- Industrial facility setting with exposure to hazardous materials
- Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) always required
- May include outdoor/travel/field work with the varying weather conditions of Saskatchewan
