About the Role
The Site Supervisor plays a key leadership role in coordinating and overseeing day-to-day field operations on construction projects. This role acts as the primary onsite lead for smaller and mid-sized projects while supporting Project Managers on larger or more complex work.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining safe, organized, high-performing job sites while coordinating labour, subcontractors, materials, equipment, scheduling, and site logistics.
This position combines hands-on construction knowledge with leadership, communication, quality control, and operational coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily field operations to ensure projects progress safely, efficiently, and according to schedule
- Lead labourers, trades, and subcontractors onsite while maintaining productivity and accountability
- Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and site instructions to ensure project requirements are met
- Coordinate deliveries, equipment, rentals, and site logistics
- Maintain organized, professional, and safety-focused job sites
- Promote and enforce Chalex Construction’s safety culture, COR and OH&S requirements
- Conduct toolbox talks, site orientations, and safety discussions as required
- Participate in project meetings, walkthroughs, and stakeholder coordination
- Monitor workmanship and quality to ensure alignment with project standards and specifications
- Maintain daily logs, progress updates, site documentation, and field reports
- Identify and resolve onsite issues proactively and professionally
- Support onboarding, mentorship, and development of junior field staff
- Foster a respectful, collaborative, and solutions-oriented work environment
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of progressive construction field experience
- Previous experience in a supervisory, Foreperson, or site coordination role preferred
- Commercial and industrial construction experience considered an asset
- Strong understanding of construction, timelines sequencing, site logistics, and safety requirements
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Practical problem-solving abilities and adaptability in fast-paced environments
- Comfortable using construction management software and digital reporting tools
- Journeyperson certification in Carpentry or a related trade is considered an asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with reliable transportation
- CSTS 2020, First Aid, MEWP/Forklift, or additional safety certifications considered an asset
