Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling Real Estate Conveyancing files from start to finish and will be someone who is self-motivated, deadline driven and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will also provide essential support to our legal staff, contributing to the efficient operation of our legal department.
Responsibilities
- Process purchase transactions including preparation of mortgages, refinancing and supplemental documents and interim/final reports.
- Process sale transactions including statements of adjustments, trust letters and documents to meet closing date.
- Communicate with realtors, financial institutions, clients, and other law firms, regarding all aspects of real estate transactions.
- Manage closing administration, including drafting final reports, coordinating signing appointments, preparing trust ledgers, handling funds, and submitting documents to Land Titles.
- Open and organize files, maintain checklists, and handle general administrative support for the lawyer throughout each transaction.
- Perform dictations and miscellaneous administrative tasks.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with internal and external contacts.
- Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
Experience
- 2+ year of experience in a Real Estate Legal Assistant/Conveyancing position.
- Experience and knowledge with Unity Do Process Software.
- Experience in SPIN system, tax search and other due diligence searches.
- Knowledge of PC Law software.
- Knowledge and expertise with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, etc.
- Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, with strong organization, prioritization, and time-management skills.
- Clear and professional communication, client-service mindset, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small-firm setting.
Qualifications
- Legal Assistant Diploma or Certificate from an accredited institution.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
