A well-established specialized transportation service organization in Windsor is seeking an experienced and collaborative Acting General Manager to oversee day-to-day operations, financial administration, dispatch coordination, and staff leadership.
This role is ideal for a hands-on operational leader with strong administration and people-management experience who thrives in a service-oriented environment.
About the Role
The organization provides scheduled transportation services for individuals with disabilities. Unlike conventional public transit systems, operations are highly dependent on scheduling efficiency, route coordination, and responsive customer service.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Acting General Manager will oversee operational planning, financial management, dispatch functions, staff supervision, and stakeholder relations while ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable transportation services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the daily operations of a specialized transportation service organization
- Oversee dispatch and scheduling functions to ensure efficient routing and service delivery
- Support and supervise dispatch and operational staff
- Foster positive working relationships within a unionized workforce environment
- Respond professionally to client, family, and stakeholder inquiries or service concerns
- Prepare annual operating budgets and assist with financial oversight and reporting requirements
- Maintain operational records, compliance documentation, and reporting obligations
- Liaise with municipal funding partners, external advisors, and regulatory bodies as required
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, scheduling effectiveness, and service quality
- Ensure organizational policies, procedures, and collective agreement obligations are followed
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of office management, operations, or leadership experience
- Experience overseeing dispatching, scheduling, logistics, or transportation operations is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a service-driven environment
- Experience working within a unionized workplace environment considered an asset
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
