Position Overview
EFI Engineering is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our growing Electrical Engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of commercial, institutional, and industrial projects while contributing to the continued growth of our electrical practice.
About the Role
As a Senior Industrial Electrical Engineer, you will serve as both a technical leader and trusted advisor to our industrial clients.
Working alongside EFI's multidisciplinary mechanical, structural and civil teams, you will lead projects involving:
- Plant modernization
- Industrial automation
- Electrical infrastructure
- Manufacturing process improvements
- Machine safety
- Power distribution
- Reliability improvements
- Capital expansion projects
This is a client-facing role with significant technical responsibility and opportunities to mentor junior engineers while helping grow EFI's industrial practice.
Primary Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Lead industrial engineering projects from feasibility through commissioning.
- Manage scope, schedules, budgets and technical quality.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Prepare engineering reports and technical recommendations.
- Develop construction packages and specifications.
- Conduct site investigations and condition assessments.
- Support commissioning and equipment startup.
Electrical Engineering
Design and review:
- Industrial power distribution systems
- Medium and low voltage electrical systems
- Motor control centres
- Switchgear
- Protective relaying
- Arc Flash studies
- Short circuit studies
- Coordination studies
- Grounding systems
- Emergency power systems
Industrial Automation & Controls
Lead design and troubleshooting of:
- PLC systems
- HMI systems
- SCADA platforms
- Industrial Ethernet networks
- Process instrumentation
- Machine vision systems
- Motion control systems
- Variable frequency drives
- Servo systems
- Data acquisition systems
Experience with Rockwell Automation products is considered a strong asset.
Process Engineering
Provide engineering support for:
- Manufacturing processes
- Material handling systems
- Conveying systems
- Pumping systems
- Batch processing
- Continuous processing
- Compressed air systems
- Hydraulic systems
- Pneumatic systems
- Gas burner systems
- Boiler systems
- Process optimization
- Plant reliability initiatives
Safety & Compliance
Support clients through:
- Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews (PSRs)
- ESA requirements
- TSSA compliance
- Machine safety assessments
- Hazardous location design
- Functional safety reviews
- Lockout/Tagout improvements
Client Development
- Build long-term client relationships.
- Identify opportunities for additional engineering services.
- Support proposal development and project scoping.
- Participate in business development activities.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical preferred)
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario
- 10–20+ years of industrial engineering experience
- Strong manufacturing background
- Experience leading capital projects
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Valid driver's licence
- Ability to travel within Canada and the United States

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00-$135,000.00 per year
