AIMCo is seeking a Manager, Model Risk Governance to join our Risk Management team. Reporting to the Senior Director, Risk Modelling, you will provide independent oversight of model risk across the organization and help advance AIMCo's model risk management framework. Working alongside a team of quantitative specialists, statisticians, and risk professionals, you'll collaborate with model owners, developers, validators, and business leaders to ensure models are appropriately governed throughout their lifecycle.
This is an 8-month fixed-term opportunity. Candidates located in Edmonton or Calgary will be considered.
What You Will Do
Provide independent oversight and effective challenge of model risk management practices.
Identify, assess, document, and communicate model risks, findings, and recommendations.
Guide stakeholders on model governance, documentation, assumptions, limitations, controls, and change management.
Support model validation planning, monitoring, and remediation activities.
Maintain model inventories, risk assessments, model ratings, and validation tracking processes.
Monitor compliance with model risk policies, standards, and governance requirements.
Prepare and present model risk assessments, metrics, and findings to stakeholders, senior management, and auditors.
Support enhancements to AIMCo's model risk framework, policies, standards, and methodologies.
Contribute to broader enterprise and operational risk initiatives.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a quantitative risk professional who combines strong analytical capabilities with the ability to influence stakeholders and strengthen governance practices across a complex investment organization.
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Financial Engineering, Financial Mathematics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
5+ years of experience in financial services.
Experience in model risk management, model validation, model governance, or risk assessment within a financial institution or consulting environment.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to understand and challenge complex models.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Power BI.
Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Experience within banking, asset management, pension funds, investment management, audit, consulting, or other financial services organizations is highly valued.
Experience with Python is highly desirable; R and SQL experience are also considered assets.
Experience with model development, model validation, or platforms such as Aladdin is considered an asset.
Completion of, or progress toward, a professional designation such as CFA, PRM, ORM, CRMP, or equivalent is considered an asset.

Support the successful execution of key model risk governance initiatives throughout the term of the assignment.
