The South Okanagan Similkameen Health Care Society, an organization that supports local family physicians with a mission to improve comprehensive primary patient care is looking for a Full-time and a Part-Time Medical Office Assistant (MOA) in Penticton to provide clerical and administrative support to physicians, nurse practitioners and allied health professionals enabling the clinic to run smoothly and ensuing patients feel well taken care of. Some of the duties and responsibilities include:
- Assist patients with intake documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Enter, update, and maintain patient records in the EMR system
- Scan, upload, and organize electronic patient files
- Greet patients and visitors, directing them to appropriate staff
- Answer calls and emails; respond to routine inquiries or redirect as needed
- Schedule and coordinate patient appointments
- Monitor clinic flow, including patient and staff locations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception and waiting area
- Support patients in the waiting room, addressing questions and concerns
- Liaise with labs, specialists, pharmacies, and other clinics
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
- Manage physical and electronic filing systems
The position is ideal for an individual who has:
- A Medical Office Assistant Certificate or equivalent experience and education
- Prior experience in a Medical Office desired
- At least 2 years of previous administrative or customer service experience in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment
- Prior experience on switchboard or reception
The successful candidate will have:
- Strong EMR/data entry skills with high attention to detail
- Proficiency in MS Office and general computer use
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Professional, discreet, and patient-focused
- Team-oriented, adaptable, and reliable
