Amsted Design-Build is seeking an experienced Residential Construction Technician to join our team.
Our technicians play an essential role in bringing thoughtful design and quality craftsmanship together on some of Ottawa’s most distinctive renovation and custom home projects. Working alongside our Project Managers and trade partners, you will contribute directly to projects that transform how our clients live in their homes.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in their craft, values teamwork, and enjoys being part of a well-organized, professional construction environment.
Minimum experience required: 5 years in residential construction.
What You’ll Do
As a Construction Technician, you will support the successful execution of high-end residential renovation and custom home projects by assisting with a wide range of construction activities, including:
- Demolition and site preparation
- Footings, framing, and general carpentry
- Trim and finish carpentry
- Installation of doors, windows, and cabinetry
- Drywall installation, taping, and finishing
- Caulking, small painting tasks, and finishing work
- General labour required to keep projects progressing efficiently
You will also help maintain safe, organized, and professional jobsites by:
- Reading and understanding drawings, specifications, and work orders
- Maintaining clear communication with the Project Manager
- Anticipating materials and work requirements to keep projects moving smoothly
- Installing dust protection and protecting existing finishes
- Keeping the jobsite clean, organized, and secure at the end of each day
Skills That Will Help You Succeed
- Positive attitude and strong communication skills

- Experience using standard construction tools and equipment
- Ability to frame walls and decking layouts
- Experience installing cabinetry, pre-hung doors, and windows
- Finish carpentry experience
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, or HVAC systems
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
