Seasonal Landscape Maintenance, Dartmouth (June 1, 2026 – October 31, 2026)
Killam Apartment REIT, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is one of Canada's largest residential real estate investment trusts, owning, operating, and developing a $5.3 billion portfolio of apartments and manufactured home communities. Killam's strategy to drive value and profitability focuses on three priorities: (1) increase earnings from the existing portfolio; (2) expand the portfolio and diversify geographically through accretive acquisitions, targeting newer properties and dispositions of non-core assets; and (3) develop high-quality properties in its core markets.
We currently have an opportunity available on our team for an energetic person to assist with landscape maintenance of our Dartmouth properties, as well as carrying out small landscape capital projects.
This seasonal position is full-time Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm, starting June 1, 2026 and will end on or before October 31, 2026.
What you will do:
- Be an integral member of the landscape maintenance service team that maintains Killam’s large scale, Dartmouth properties on a weekly schedule (including weeding, edging, and cultivating of planting beds, cleaning litter from parking lots and landscaped areas, trimming and shaping of shrubs and hedges, etc.);
- Safely operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, edgers, and hedge trimmers;
- Collaborate with team members to ensure all priority landscape maintenance tasks are completed efficiently;
- With guidance from team lead, provide care for a variety of trees, shrubs, flowers, and grasses, using proper techniques such as pruning, deadheading, and dividing.
Who you are:
- Previous experience in landscape maintenance in a similar role is an asset;
- Ability to work as a team member to a small crew;
- Must have a smartphone that allows the Yeti app to be downloaded to record personal timesheets;
- Able to recognize common plants and shrubs and perform the basic maintenance care that they require. Or able to take direction and learn these basic care practices;
- Physically capable, safety-conscious, and able to perform demanding outdoor tasks efficiently in a variety of weather conditions.
