Position Purpose:
Splatsin Stsmamlt Services (SSS) is seeking a director to provide strong operational, financial, and people leadership for our child and family services department. This role focuses on managing staff, overseeing budgets, ensuring compliance, and supporting high-quality service delivery, while working closely with Splatsin leadership to uphold community values and cultural priorities.
This position is well suited to an experienced manager or director with a business, public administration, or service-sector background who is committed to learning and working within an Indigenous-led child welfare system.
Key Result Areas and Tasks:
Leadership & Operations
- Provide overall leadership and direction for Splatsin Stsmamlt Services
- Oversee day-to-day operations of child and family services
- Lead, supervise, and support a multidisciplinary team of 12+ staff
- Ensure effective staffing, performance management, and staff development
- Support a positive, respectful, and accountable workplace culture
Financial & Administrative Management
- Develop and manage the annual child welfare budget
- Monitor expenditures and financial reports in collaboration with the Finance Director
- Ensure financial records and reporting are accurate and submitted as required
- Allocate resources efficiently to support sustainable service delivery
Governance, Compliance & Partnerships
- Ensure services operate in compliance with Splatsin By-law #3-1980 and the 2023 Coordination Agreement
- Work with the Band Administrator to keep Kukpi7 and Tkwamipla7 informed, as required
- Maintain collaborative relationships with provincial and federal partners
- Represent Splatsin Stsmamlt Services in meetings and forums as needed
Cultural Responsibility (Supported & Collaborative)
- Work respectfully within Secwepemc Law and Splatsin governance structures
- Support the inclusion of cultural teachings and practices in service delivery, guided by Elders and Knowledge Keepers
- Encourage culturally safe practices for children, families, and staff
- Participate in ongoing learning related to Splatsin culture and community priorities
Relationships and Supervision:
- Reports directly to the Band Administrator
Mandatory Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, Social Work, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of senior management experience, preferably in human services, public sector, or community-based organizations
Desirable Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience managing budgets, staff teams, and operations
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within Indigenous governance and community settings
Assets (Not Required):
- Experience in child welfare or Indigenous service delivery
- Knowledge of Splatsin By-law #3-1980 and the 2023 Coordination Agreement
- Familiarity with Secwepemc or Splatsin culture and governance
- (Training and cultural support will be provided where needed.)

Pay: $77,988.24-$156,143.09 per year
