We're Hiring: K-12 Experienced English Tutor & Essay Coach (Part-Time / In-Person)

We are a boutique education consulting company based in Vancouver, committed to helping students achieve academic excellence and develop strong personal narratives for school and university applications. We are currently seeking a qualified and enthusiastic English Tutor to join our team.
Position Overview:
This role involves teaching K-12 English Language Arts and providing personalized coaching for academic and admissions writing. Instruction includes both in-person small group classes and one-on-one sessions. Experience with the BC English curriculum, SSAT/SAT English and Admissions essay coaching is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach English Language Arts to students in Grades K–12, following the BC curriculum
- Provide coaching in reading comprehension, grammar, academic writing, and literary analysis
- Prepare students for standardized tests, including SSAT and SAT
- Guide students through the college and private school admissions essay process, including brainstorming, drafting, and revision
- Deliver both in-person instruction
- Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to students and parents
- Collaborate with the academic and advising teams to support students' long-term goals
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from a North American university (English, Education, Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in tutoring English or coaching academic/admissions writing
- Native-level proficiency in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
- Strong understanding of the BC English curriculum
- Solid knowledge of SSAT and SAT content and test strategies
- Experience with university and/or private school admissions essays
- Excellent written communication, editing, and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented, reliable, and passionate about education
- Must be eligible to work in Canada (valid work permit or PR/citizenship required)
- Available to teach in person in Kerrisdale (Vancouver West) and online as needed
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications.
Starting at CAD 35 per hour
