We are currently looking for an experienced and motivated Heavy Equipment Operator to join our growing team.

Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Complete excavation, trenching, grading, backfilling, and material handling operations
- Work safely around underground utilities and existing infrastructure
- Follow grade stakes, laser levels, GPS systems, and direction from site supervision
- Assist pipe crews with utility installation and trench preparation
- Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance
- Identify and report equipment deficiencies or safety concerns
- Maintain awareness of ground conditions, overhead hazards, and surrounding crew members
- Communicate effectively with foremen, labourers, pipe layers, and truck drivers
- Follow company safety policies, site procedures, and WorkSafeBC regulations
- Keep equipment clean and maintain professional standards on site
Qualifications
- Previous heavy equipment operating experience in civil construction required
- Experience operating excavators, loaders, backhoes, dozers skid steers, other related equipment
- Strong understanding of safe excavation and trenching practices
- Experience working around underground utilities and existing infrastructure
- Ability to read grades, stakes, and site layouts
- GPS and laser grade experience considered an asset
- Valid BC Driver’s License required
- Strong understanding of construction site safety requirements and PPE
- Ability to work safely and efficiently
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality
- Ability to take direction and work independently when required
- Ability to perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance
- Experience with municipal infrastructure and underground utility projects considered an asset
- Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekends as required
