Job description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Device Reprocessing Technician / Endoscopy Technician to join our endoscopy clinic. This is initially a part-time position, approximately 2–3 days per week, with the potential to transition to full-time based on clinic volume and operational needs.
The successful candidate will be responsible for endoscope reprocessing, cleaning, disinfection, sterilization-related procedures, and general support of the endoscopy unit. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, comfort working in a fast-paced clinical environment, and strict adherence to infection prevention and control standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean, decontaminate, disinfect, inspect, and store flexible endoscopes according to clinic policies, manufacturer instructions, and infection control standards
- Operate and monitor automated endoscope reprocessors and related reprocessing equipment
- Perform and document required quality checks, including chemical testing, equipment checks, and reprocessing logs
- Maintain appropriate clean/dirty workflow separation in the medical device reprocessing area
- Support room turnover, environmental cleaning, and preparation of endoscopy rooms as needed
- Stock supplies and maintain cleanliness and organization of MDR and endoscopy areas
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and safe handling of reprocessing chemicals
- Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, and administrative staff
- Escalate equipment, supply, or reprocessing concerns promptly to the appropriate supervisor
Job Requirements
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Successful completion of a Medical Device Reprocessing/MDRD certificate from an accredited program within the last 2 years; recent graduates will be considered
- Experience in MDRD, endoscopy, or a healthcare setting is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed procedures consistently
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good work ethic, reliability, and attendance record
- Comfortable working with sterilization/reprocessing chemicals and wearing PPE
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physically active tasks in a clinical environment
