Job Description:
Position Overview:
The Supervisor reports to the Manager of Parking and Security. They are responsible for the effective day-to-day supervision of all on-duty Security Guards. They shall advise, assist, and direct them in a constructive manner as required. The Supervisor ensures that the Security Department provides high quality, customer-focused services according to the SHN mission, vision, and values. They ensure that all calls for service and complaints are attended in a professional and timely manner, and that a record of such actions is accurately maintained. They are also supportive of all proactive programs that have been implemented and shall identify and develop strategies to meet present and future requirements. The position enforces departmental expectations through regular on-site presence, regular inspections and investigations, and coaching. The supervisor supports the Manager with procurement efforts and processes. The Supervisor may operate as a delegate for the Manager during periods of absence and high acuity of work.
Requirements:
A minimum of five ( 5 ) years of Security experience working within a hospital environment.
A minimum of two ( 2 ) years of Supervisory experience working within a unionized environment.
Have a post-secondary Diploma or Degree from an accredited institution on the subject of Security or Policing.
Experience with operational and contractual relationships between external security providers and clients.
Belong to a relative professional association such as IAHSS and ASIS (preferred).
Have a valid Ontario Security Licence.
Hold a valid Driver’s Licence and have access to, and regular use of personal vehicle, travel between sites may be required at times.
Police and Criminal background check required (VSC).
Position requires regular and rotational on-call availability.
Schedule flexibility (available for morning, evening, and night shifts when required).
Working knowledge of Provincial and Municipal legislation and regulation in the area(s) of Security and Healthcare.
Thorough and complete knowledge of all Emergency Codes, and a demonstrated understanding of Emergency Management, and Crime Prevention technique.
Working knowledge of security operations and procedures.
Excellent communication, documentation, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Demonstrated ability to train, instruct and coach staff.
Organized and able to write routine correspondence; including, logs, reports, and produce/ maintain procedural documents and standing orders.
Technologically competent in a variety of access control platforms, CCTV, reporting software and Excel based applications.
Assume the lead role in response to incidents occurring on the shift and coordinating follow-up actions as necessary, including incident debriefs.
Maintain inventories, records and communicate discrepancies to management.
Perform regular inspections, initiate and participate in investigations relating to employee performance, and enforce departmental expectations.
Participate in committees and work collaboratively with leaders from different disciplines.
Other duties as assigned.
