Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Snow Plow Operator to support winter snow removal operations from November 2026 to March 2027. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating snow removal equipment such as loaders, skid steers, plow trucks, and related equipment to keep roads, driveways, sidewalks, and parking areas safe and accessible.
This role will also include assigned salting routes, which may involve either manual or mechanical salt application. Hours will vary depending on weather conditions, with shifts typically starting between 3:00 AM and 5:00 AM following heavy snowfall. Pay will be hourly, with a guaranteed minimum number of paid hours regardless of hours worked. In lighter snowfall winters, this may result in employees being compensated for many more hours than are ultimately required.
Duties
- Operate snow plow trucks, loaders, skid steers, and related equipment to clear snow and ice from designated areas
- Apply salt or ice melt manually or mechanically as required
- Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation
- Maintain safety standards by identifying potential hazards during snow removal operations
- Coordinate with team members to prioritize routes and ensure timely snow clearing
- Keep accurate records of completed work, salt applications, and equipment maintenance
Qualifications
- Proven equipment operating experience, preferably in snow removal
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to snow and ice management
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record preferred
- Ability to work in cold weather conditions for extended periods
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work early morning shifts during snow events
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Preferably able to reliably commute to work during snowfall events and early morning callouts. Accommodations may be made for candidates located in Whistler.
