Lead Installation Technician / Installation Helper
SCT Fleet Solutions is a new commercial vehicle upfitting company serving businesses throughout Metro Vancouver and British Columbia. We specialize in the professional installation of shelving, partitions, ladder racks, flooring, toolboxes, lighting, electrical accessories and other equipment for commercial vans and light-duty trucks.
We are currently hiring for two full-time positions:
Lead Installation Technician
Installation Helper / Junior Technician
We are looking for dependable, hands-on individuals who take pride in their work, use good judgment and understand the importance of completing every installation safely, accurately and professionally. Interviews will begin immediately.
Lead Installation Technician
The Lead Installation Technician will perform and oversee commercial vehicle equipment installations while helping maintain quality, efficiency and organization in the shop.
Responsibilities
- Install commercial van and truck equipment, including shelving, partitions, ladder racks, flooring, toolboxes and accessories
- Complete drilling, measuring, cutting, fastening, assembly and basic wiring tasks
- Read installation instructions, diagrams and product specifications
- Inspect vehicles and equipment before and after installation
- Ensure all work is completed safely, securely and to a professional standard
- Troubleshoot installation issues and find practical solutions
- Guide and support junior technicians and installation helpers
- Maintain an organized, clean and safe work area
- Protect customers’ vehicles from damage during installation
- Communicate any product, vehicle or installation concerns to management
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in commercial vehicle upfitting, automotive accessories, truck equipment, fabrication, construction, cabinetry, electrical installation or a similar hands-on trade
- Strong ability to work with hand tools and power tools
- Experience measuring, drilling, cutting and assembling equipment
- Excellent attention to detail and workmanship
- Strong mechanical ability, common sense and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Dependable, punctual and able to complete projects within expected timelines
- Basic 12-volt electrical experience is an asset
- Welding or fabrication experience is an asset
Installation Helper / Junior Technician
The Installation Helper will assist the Lead Technician with vehicle preparation, equipment assembly and installation work. This is a good opportunity for someone with hands-on experience who wants to develop a career in commercial vehicle upfitting.
Responsibilities
- Assist with assembling and installing commercial vehicle equipment
- Prepare tools, hardware, parts and vehicles for installation
- Perform measuring, drilling, fastening and basic assembly under supervision
- Help receive, organize and inspect incoming equipment
- Keep the installation area clean, safe and organized
- Follow instructions carefully and ask questions when clarification is needed
- Learn manufacturer installation procedures and company quality standards
- Assist with final inspections and shop cleanup
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous hands-on experience in automotive work, construction, cabinetry, mechanical work, installations or a related field
- Comfortable using common hand tools and power tools
- Strong willingness to learn and improve
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Able to work effectively with limited supervision after training
- Automotive or commercial vehicle experience is an asset but not required for the right candidate
General Requirements
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Available to work full-time hours
- Reliable transportation and a dependable commute to our Surrey location
- Valid driver’s licence and clean driving record are strongly preferred
- Able to safely lift and handle equipment weighing approximately 50 pounds
- Comfortable standing, bending, kneeling and working around commercial vehicles
- Able to communicate professionally with coworkers, suppliers and customers
- Committed to workplace safety and high-quality workmanship
Compensation and Schedule
- $25–$34 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications and position
- Full-time employment
- Approximately 40 hours per week
- Primarily weekday daytime hours
