Job Summary
The Marine Technician and Mechanic, under the direction of the Owners, will primarily be responsible to provide support to our boat, marine teams. They will service and maintain our fleet: preventative, regular scheduled maintenance, offer emergency servicing and repairs as needed and ensure that our boats can get off the docks with minimal to no downtime during our peak season. Working in a busy, dynamic seasonal industry the Marine Technician and Mechanic will interact directly with employees, management and the public at large while supporting the general day to day operations of a fast paced customer service oriented work environment.

Your primary location of work will be at our (existing office) to be replaced by a brand new custom built floating office at Victoria’s historic community of Fisherman’s Wharf. Some work may occur remotely from home, this is to be discussed.

Salary:
- to be negotiated ($65-$75/hr) based upon proven previous experience (3 month probation period)
Team:
- 40 – 50 employees (seasonal contracts and year round contracts for team members)
- Peak season we are 45+ team members
- Off season we are up to 20
Location:
- various locations with majority of work to be done at Fisherman’s Wharf, Ogden Point and Canoe Cove Marina.
- We have storage located @ Ogden Point
Schedule:
- Full time with flexible hours - on-call in peak summer season.(3-4 months)
- More details can be discussed in person regarding expectations.
- 1200 - 2000 hours per season. (depending on your diverse skill set)

What does this ideal team member look like?
- Certified Heavy Duty Diesel Marine Mechanic.
- Marine Technician – Minimum 5-10+ years experience
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Must have experience with marine Diesel engines
- We have Volvo: D6’s, D11’s, D13’s
- Experience with Outboard engines is an asset
- experience re-building diesel engines an asset
- knowledge of electrical systems an asset – 12 and 24 volt systems
- General understanding of both aluminum and fibreglass hull construction is an asset.
- Professional attitude and strong work ethic.
- administrative skills a benefit: computer, google documents and sheets (willing to learn), Fleetio an asset.
- Clear communication skills
- Can work under pressure and under a tight timeline due to unforeseen circumstances with a busy peak season schedule (June – September) – (On-call at times).
- Self motivated and flexible team player; a willingness to learn and work well with others.
- Maintain high quality work standards.
- Ability to complete tasks in a safe and timely manner.
- Good customer service skills.
- Marine knowledge is not required but would be a strong asset.

- Troubleshooting and diagnostics when needed.
- Work at various locations with the primary location being Fisherman’s Wharf.

- Help develop and maintain a maintenance schedule/program.

Pay: $65.00-$75.00 per hour
