Overview
Swan Lake Market is seeking experienced and motivated Food Production Shift Supervisors to support our growing deli and prepared foods operation through the upcoming season. This is a hands-on supervisory role focused on daily production execution, workflow efficiency, and collaborative menu development. The position is ideal for culinary professionals who enjoy leading by example, improving systems, and contributing ideas—without the long-term administrative burden of a management role.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support food production during assigned shifts
- Execute and refine daily prep plans, batching, and production flow
- Contribute to menu development, recipe refinement, and seasonal offerings
- Identify production inefficiencies and propose practical improvements
- Support food safety, cleanliness, and quality standards
- Train and mentor team members during active production periods
- Communicate clearly with management regarding production needs and observations
What This Role Is (and Is Not)
This role does involve leadership, problem-solving, and culinary input.
This role does not carry responsibility for department budgets, staffing strategy, vendor relationships, or long-term program ownership.
Qualifications
- 2+ years experience in a commercial kitchen, commissary, or high-volume food production environment
- Strong understanding of prep workflows, batch cooking, and station coordination
- Comfortable supervising peers during active service or production windows
- FoodSafe Level 1 (or willingness to obtain)
- Culinary training or post-secondary education considered an asset
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, seasonal environment

- Experience or strong interest in health-conscious food production, including scratch cooking, whole-food ingredients, and thoughtful sourcing standards, is strongly preferred.
