Events and Communications Assistant
Position Overview
The Communications and Events Assistant will assist in the creation of social media content, photography and videography of events and day-to-day activities of NWPSA, maintaining the digital presence of the organization, and supporting events. This role reports to the Executive Director but plays a vital role in supporting the work of the Executive Council and Department Coordinator.
Communications Support
- Assist in creating and distributing newsletters, email campaigns, social media content, and promotional materials.
- Draft, edit, and proof communications for external and internal audiences.
- Assist in content creation, editing and maintenance of the website.
- Support the creation, collection and distribution of stories, photography and
- Creation of content for the Perks platform.
- Assist in the creation of design for events, promotions and other campaigns as they arise.
Event Support
- Act as a support to the Executive Council in running their events.
- Ensure that photos and videos are captured at the event.
- Assist attendees with the Perks platform as needed.
- Provide on-site support before, during, and after events.
Administration
- Maintain organized records and design files.
- Support in maintaining archival records of events for future teams.
- Assist with scheduling meetings and event timelines.
Additional tasks as required by the Executive Director may be assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Some education or work experience in graphic design, communications, marketing or related field is an asset.
- Relevant volunteer experience, internships, student leadership roles, or part-time employment will be considered.
- Preference will be given to a current or recently graduated NWP student.
Skills and Attributes
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate within a team and work independantly.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communications tools.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva considered an asset.
- Passion for student-based advocacy and storytelling.
- Willingness to learn and take initiative.
Working Conditions
- Flexible working hours.
- Evening and weekend work will be required to support events.
- Some local travel may be required.

Pay: $19.00-$25.00 per hour
