Overview
We are seeking an experienced, self starting, and detail-oriented Superintendent to oversee civil construction (earthworks and base) activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of construction processes, and proficiency with industry-standard management tools. This role is essential in ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Superintendent will coordinate with field crews, office staff, and subcontractors to ensure the successful completion of projects.
Duties
- Lead and supervise daily construction activities on-site, ensuring adherence to company safety procedures, project plans, and schedules
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors
- Oversee quality control measures to meet company standards and client expectations
- Monitor project progress, identify potential delays or issues, and implement corrective actions
- Manage on-site safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents to guide work execution
- Assist in construction estimating and budgeting to ensure cost-effective project delivery
- Utilize construction management software such as SiteDocs, HCSS, Bluebeam, , and other tools for project tracking and documentation
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards
Skills
- 10+ years of heavy civil construction experience (earthworks and base)
- Demonstratable track record as a field safety leader
- Proven supervising experience with a strong understanding of construction management practices
- Experienced in directly managing multiple crews across different work locations
- Highly adaptable and effective within dynamic and fast paced construction projects
- Proficiency in construction management software
- Expertise in reviewing drawings and developing workplans
- Strong knowledge of quality control procedures
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multiple teams and subcontractors
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in project documentation and scheduling
- Effective communication skills for liaising with clients, vendors, and team members
