The Ministry of Finance, Tax Information and Compliance Branch, requires a confident individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills, and knowledge of accounting and auditing principles to fill a term position as a Tax Information Officer.
The Revenue Division of the Ministry of Finance is Saskatchewan's primary tax collection agency. The Tax Information and Compliance Branch is responsible for the administration of several consumption tax programs including the Provincial Sales Tax (PST), Liquor Consumption Tax (LCT), Vapour Products Tax (VPT) and Beverage Container Program (BCP).
Working within a team of Tax Information Officers, this dynamic position handles Secondary Suite Initiative (SSI) Grant Program inquiries, reviews applications, and phone and email inquiries. In addition, this position has the opportunity to research specific tax topics on new and emerging tax trends to complete policy decision papers which contribute to ensuring businesses and taxpayers can understand and comply with the Province’s consumption taxes.
We are seeking a detail oriented and analytical individual that thrives on taking initiative and proactively identifying opportunities to address and communicate policy questions. This may be the opportunity for you if you possess strong verbal and written communication skills to provide explanations, rulings and information to taxpayers. You must also be able to interpret and apply legislation.
The knowledge and abilities required would typically be obtained through the completion of an Accounting Diploma or Business Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, supplemented with relevant work experience.
