ABOUT THE POSITION
Reporting to the Area Superintendent, the Student Services Consultant works in collaboration with school staff to advance student achievement through the implementation of curriculum and support intervention programs.

WHAT YOU BRING
-
Valid Manitoba teaching certificate and a Special Education degree/certificate
-
Master's in Education in Special Education
-
Relevant resource teacher and classroom experience
-
Sound knowledge of Provincial curricular outcomes, instructional strategies, resources and assessments

Knowledge of various disabilities and programming to meet needs
-
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with students with special needs

Knowledge of various resource-based assessment tools
-
Proven resource development and implementation skills

Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as well as independently

Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills

Knowledge of Indigenous Way of Life

Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning

Valid Manitoba Driver's License and ability to travel extensively throughout the Area
WHAT YOU'LL DO
-
Provide guidance and support to administrators, resource teachers and classroom teachers to ensure the implementation of appropriate educational programming including individualized programming and assistive technology to meet the students' needs
-
Participate in the development and implementation of the Division's strategic plan and school plans
-
Provide leadership in the development and implementation of instructional resources, instructional strategies and assessment of students with special needs including preparing applications for categorical funding

Liaising, scheduling and directing of the services of outside agencies, including school psychologist, speech and language pathologist, occupational therapist, physical therapist and other clinicians

Develop and deliver workshops to support teacher professional development
- Support administrators in assisting teachers with individual education plans

Support administrators and teachers with the identification and development of professional learning initiatives including leading divisional initiatives and teams as appropriate

Other related responsibilities as assigned.
