I contribute to the Maintenance and Facilities team so we can continuously support the YP Team to perform at high standards all the time with safe and operational machinery.
My goals are to:

- People- have trained team members
- Invest time in training to reduce downtime and increase safety.
- Create or update formal documentation addressing every piece of machinery in use in YP.
- Plants- Help to deliver the best plant material
- Review machinery periodically to help the team to achieve production and productivity goals
- Review quality and safety control systems for the product and the process
- Reduce minimal machinery downtime and proactively communicate any issues to the YP team.
- Finances- keep this Business Unit profitable
- Look for operational improvements with quality and yield in mind.

- Make sure team members are well-trained, regularly evaluated in all machinery..
- Each team member has a person capable of being an effective backup.
- Identify and resolve production roadblocks that affect production supply or labor availability.
- Ensure equipment, machinery and facilities are operated in good and safe condition and report close equipment failures.
- Be part of the Safety Committee
- Ensure that SOPs are up to date for maintenance tasks.
- Perform routine maintenance on production equipment, buildings, and capital projects.
- Maintain electronic maintenance records, spare parts inventories, and assist with preventative maintenance scheduling with internal & external stakeholders.
- Ensure preventative maintenance are being carried on efficiently and on time
- Troubleshoot equipment on the production floor in the event of a breakdown.
- General maintenance of the VB facilities and offices including minor carpentry, painting, and mechanical work.
- Improve the maintenance process without exceeding the budget for direct labor.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of maintenance supplies and materials and make purchase decisions.
- Assist the Operations Manager with other duties as assigned.

- Help YP teams achieve the monthly targets with safe and well run machinery without exceeding the budget for direct labor.
- Ensure overall cleanliness and organization of the YP - warehouse and exterior of the building is maintained

- I have the leadership skills to follow up on deliverables and team members.
Requirements:
- 1+ Years of general facilities maintenance experience with ornamental nurseries or maintenance roles in high-speed manufacturing environments.
- Ability to make decisions based on best safety & operational practices.
- MS Office skills
- English is essential and Spanish is an asset.
- Capable of working well under pressure with multiple projects and timelines and ability to multi-task effectively with excellent attention-to-detail, troubleshooting and excellent problem solving.
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Relevant trade qualification/training would be considered an asset
- Strong organizational skills with strong verbal and written communication.
- Experience schedule and review activities.
Tasks:

- Join a daily team huddle to check priority and roadblock for the day.
- Inspects operating condition of all equipment daily.
- Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and ensures the safety of the building, equipment, and team members.
- Train crew members in all machinery and periodically audit their usage and correct problems if necessary.
- Oversee and perform basic cleaning, lubricating and fine tuning of production and nursery equipment; transit lines, pipe lifters, safety devices,etc. Make sure the railyard works.
- Check gasoline tank, diesel and propane tanks
- Maintain the irrigation booms, irrigation tanks and cleaning of collection drains
- Monitor and maintain shade curtains, modines, irrigation booms and fans to make sure they are working well.
- Keep accurate inventory of tools and small equipment. Storage areas should be kept well organized and neat with a maintenance record.
- Make sure the site is safe and support and prioritize safety committee recommendations.
- Keep and maintain the parking lot, loading areas, nursery entrance and roads clean and organized free of garbage, leaves and snow.
- Coordinate organic /recycle/chemical waste removal from Clayburn location.
- Check box machine for shipping
- Review Asana task list and prioritoze based on availability of resources
- Operate bobcat/ forklift/boom lift
- Drive truck between sites and deliver orders to customers offsite
