We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, forward-thinking Security Technician to join our growing team. This role focuses on installing and maintaining access control, CCTV, intrusion systems, and related infrastructure. Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and repair:
- Various access control systems – Gallagher experience/certification is an asset
- IP-based video surveillance systems
- Intrusion alarm systems, including central station monitoring
- Nurse call systems
- Intercom and Telephone Entry systems
- Network cabling, patch panels, racks, switches, routers, and PTP wireless systems
- Configure advanced integrations between systems, with assistance
- Install EMT conduit
- Install, terminate, document, and test copper data cabling to ANSI/TIA-568 specifications
- Install, terminate (fusion splicing), document, and test fiber optic cabling to ANSI/TIA-568 specifications
- Configure and troubleshoot IP networks and devices with a strong understanding of concepts and protocols including:
- OSI Model
- TCP/IP
- DHCP
- DNS
- VLANs/802.1q
- SIP
- Install, configure, and manage Windows and Linux-based servers
- Install, configure, and test automatic barrier-free doors
- Read, interpret, and understand blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
- Maintain safe work practices and follow company safety protocols. Set a positive example and take ownership of the safety of junior technicians

Qualifications
- Proven experience as a service technician in security systems installation or maintenance, preferably with access control, CCTV, or intrusion detection systems.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience related to low voltage wiring, cabling, sensors, and power supplies.
- Familiarity with computer networking concepts essential for configuring networked security devices.
- Ability to read schematics, technical drawings, and system design documents accurately.
- Knowledge of fire alarm systems, telecommunication infrastructure, locksmithing basics, and surveillance technology is highly desirable.
- Skilled in using hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire strippers; power tools including drills; and specialized equipment like remote access software tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex security hardware issues efficiently.

Certifications
- Manufacturer certifications for Access Control or CCTV systems.
- CSTS2020, WHMIS (training provided if not held).
- MEWP/Fall Protection, Confined Space.
- IT certifications (CompTIA, Cisco) or related industry credentials.
Other Requirements
- Class 5 driver’s license (required)
- Ability to pass CPIC/background check, vulnerable sector screening, and military reliability/secret clearance.
- Willingness to travel and work out-of-town as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move around construction sites for extended periods.
- Frequently lift, carry, and move materials, ladders, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (23 kg).
- Comfortable working at heights using ladders, lifts, or scaffolding.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching overhead, and working in confined spaces.
- Must have sufficient visual acuity and hearing to identify colour-coded wiring, read blueprints, and detect system alarms or signals.
- Ability to maintain physical activity throughout the workday in varying environmental conditions.
- Must be able to safely operate a company vehicle or personal vehicle for travel between sites.
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
