Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Fibre Optic Splicer to join our field operations team in a permanent, full-time position. The successful candidate will be responsible for the splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fibre optic cables in a variety of environments. This role requires technical precision, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
This role requires a willingness to travel, work a minimum of 40 hours per week, and have a valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform fibre optic splicing in both outdoor and indoor environments (aerial, underground, and premises-based)
- Troubleshoot and repair fibre connectivity issues
- Operate and maintain splicing equipment and tools
- Maintain accurate records of splicing and testing results
- Ensure compliance with company safety protocols and industry standards
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency fibre outages when needed
- Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, and other stakeholders to meet
- Conduct fibre characterization and testing, including OTDR, power meter, and light source testing
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Minimum 3 years experience as a fibre optic splicer
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
- Experience with both single-mode and multi-mode fibre
- Proficient in fibre optic testing equipment and splicing techniques
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required
- Strong understanding of OTDR trace analysis and fibre network troubleshooting
