At Jason Roy Home Renovations, we believe the people behind the work matter just as much as the work itself.
We're looking for an experienced Journeyperson Carpenter who can lead a job site and be trusted with the full range of residential renovation work — not just one specialty. We specialize in residential renovations and custom projects where the work varies day to day, and we need someone who can take a project from framing through to final finish without needing to be walked through it.
This is a lead role. You'll be running the site, guiding our apprentices, and making the calls that keep a job moving and done right.
**What It's Like Working With Us**
* A supportive crew environment
* Owners who are hands-on and approachable
* Variety of residential renovation projects
* Work-life balance
* A workplace where your voice matters
* Room to lead and make real decisions on site
* Pride in craftsmanship without the big-company politics
* A team that respects and values each other
**Duties & Responsibilities**
* Lead day-to-day work on residential renovation projects, from framing through finish
* Frame walls, floors, and roofs, and read and work from blueprints and project specs
* Install and hang doors and windows, including proper flashing and sealing
* Build and install stairs, railings, and balusters to code
* Hang, tape, mud, and sand drywall to a smooth, paint-ready finish
* Install trim, baseboards, casing, and crown molding
* Install hardwood, laminate, and engineered flooring, including subfloor and underlayment
* Install kitchen and bathroom cabinets and coordinate countertop installation
* Handle basic tile-setting for floors and backsplashes
* Build and repair decks, and handle siding, soffit, and fascia work
* Coordinate with electricians, plumbers, and other subtrades on site
* Guide and mentor apprentices, and keep the crew and schedule on track
* Communicate job progress professionally with homeowners and the office
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site
* Ensure all work meets code and our quality standards
**Requirements**
* Certified Journeyperson Carpenter (Red Seal preferred)
or
* Minimum 5 years of active, hands-on work across framing, finish carpentry, stairs, doors/windows, flooring, and cabinetry — not just one specialty
* Hands-on experience working to Canadian residential building codes and construction standards
* Proven ability to lead a job site and a crew with minimal supervision
* Reliable, personal transportation required
* Own hand tools (we supply larger equipment)
* Must be bondable
* Professional residential renovation experience — DIY or hobby experience is not considered applicable for this role
* Ability to perform physically demanding work
* Strong communication skills and a solid work ethic
We get a lot of applicants who are strong in one area but haven't done the full range above. For this role we need someone we can hand any part of a renovation to and trust it'll get done right, so please only apply if you've been actively working across most or all of these tasks for 5+ years, using Canadian building codes on the job.
**The Kind of Person Who Fits Our Crew**
Someone who:
* Takes pride in doing things right
* Can be trusted to lead without close supervision
* Enjoys variety and solving problems on site
* Wants to work with good people
* Wants to feel valued and respected
* Enjoys being part of a smaller, close-knit company
* Is looking for long-term stability with a solid crew
**Schedule**
* Monday to Friday
* Day shift
* Full-time permanent position
