Our client, is a multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm specializing in building services. They are actively looking for a Mechanical Designer/Engineer to join their growing team on a permanent full-time basis.
As part of the Mechanical Engineering Group you will be responsible in the design of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems.
In this role you will be accountable for but not limited to:
· Creating basic designs under the direction of the Project Manager/Senior Engineer
· Prepare drawings, specifications and reports necessary to deliver a project.
· Design building systems in accordance with the requirements of municipal or provincial building code and other applicable standards.
· Check layouts and services for continuity; developing various mechanical systems layouts in coordination with the structural, architectural, and electrical components of a building.
· Develop layouts and design of mechanical building systems such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning, fire protection systems, plumbing and draining systems, and specialized plumbing systems.
· Coordinating with other trades (architectural and engineering and/or internal and external)
· Supporting the design and engineering efforts of systems for new, retrofits, and/or replacement and upgrades for a wide variety of projects
· Verify drawings and plans for compliance with applicable regulations, contract specifications and engineering principles with respect to HVAC, plumbing, utilities and fire protection through system analysis and familiarization with products.
· Adhere to standards such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, OBC and NFPA in all design work.
· Assist with project management, including provision of mechanical design services; following the project’s progress from tender issue though construction completion via site surveys, site inspections and client correspondence.
· Maintaining company standards
· Assisting with field investigations and construction site visits to ensure projects meet the client’s specifications
· Attending project coordination meetings as required
Requirements:
· Three or more years of direct industry experience in the field of mechanical building services.
· Experience using AutoCAD and/or Revit is an asset.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills is a must.
Key criteria for success in this role:
· Problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
· Working knowledge with various mechanical systems such as heating, air conditioning, plumbing systems, etc.
· Determine client’s needs and perform building system analysis and design.
· Fully understands Codes and Standards relevant for the project and is able to communicate all requirements to the internal project team, external project team, owner, and Authorities having Jurisdiction.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients.
· Have sound communications skills as demonstrated through client and staff relations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
