About Terravista Vineyards:
Terravista Vineyards is a small, family-run winery with 15 acres of vineyards on the Naramata Bench, tucked away up Sutherland Road and overlooking our Lone Hand Ranch Vineyard and Okanagan Lake. Terravista is known for crafting distinctive Spanish-varietal wines, including Albariño, and for offering relaxed, personal, and memorable wine shop experiences.
We are a small, specialized team with a strong focus on thoughtful hospitality, quality wines, and genuine guest connection.
Overview:
We are looking for a part-time Wine Shop Hospitality Associate to join our team for the summer and fall season. This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys hospitality, takes pride in providing exceptional guest experiences, and has a confident, positive, sales-minded approach.
The position will be based in our wine shop two days per week, approximately 12 to 18 hours weekly, with occasional support for weekend or evening events. We are looking to interview and hire within the next two weeks.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
- Lead curated wine shop experiences, providing warm, knowledgeable, and attentive service to all guests
- Share the Terravista story, including our vineyard practices, winemaking philosophy, and unique Spanish-varietal wines
- Greet guests in a timely and professional manner, helping to manage the flow of visitors and create the best possible experience for everyone on the property
- Promote new wine releases, upcoming events, and Wine Club membership opportunities
- Support seasonal food and wine programs on the patio
- Operate the point-of-sale system accurately and efficiently
- Process wine sales, Wine Club sign-ups, discounts, and cash transactions responsibly
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the wine shop, patio, office, and public areas
- Assist with daily set-up and closing procedures for wine shop and hospitality spaces
- Stock wine, merchandise, and hospitality supplies as needed
- Support the broader winery team with other duties as required
Skills & Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in hospitality, customer service, retail, tourism, or wine sales
- A genuine interest in wine, hospitality, and guest experience
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage guests in a friendly, professional manner
- A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to stay calm and organized during busy periods
- Confidence with sales, guest recommendations, and promoting experiences or memberships
- Serving It Right certification, required
- FoodSafe certification, considered an asset
- Wine education, such as WSET, BC Wine Ambassador, CMS, or equivalent experience, considered an asset
- Comfort handling cash and using a POS system
- Basic math skills for transactions, discounts, and end-of-day processes
- The ability to repeatedly lift up to 40 lbs
- Reliability, punctuality, and availability to work weekends and holidays as required
Compensation & Benefits:
Expected pay range: $20.00 to $23.00 per hour, depending on experience
