Prairie Metal Industries is looking for a reliable and mechanically inclined Sheet Metal Machine Operator to run and maintain a spiral duct machine in a fast-paced shop environment. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, understands machinery, and takes pride in producing quality products.
Responsibilities
- Operate spiral duct machine and related equipment safely and efficiently
- Set up machine for different sizes and gauges of sheet metal
- Monitor production to ensure quality and accuracy
- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment
- Read and interpret work orders and shop drawings
- Measure, cut, and handle sheet metal materials
- Keep work area clean and organized
- Follow all safety procedures and shop policies
Requirements
- Mechanically inclined with strong problem-solving skills
- Experience in sheet metal or HVAC shop (preferred, not required)
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately
- Comfortable working with machinery and hand tools
- Physically able to lift materials and stand for extended periods
- Strong attention to detail and work ethic
- Willingness to learn and be trained
Assets (Nice to Have)
- Experience operating spiral duct machines or similar equipment
- Forklift certification
