Nora Law Professional Corporation is seeking a Family Law Legal Assistant / Junior Law Clerk to support a growing boutique law practice in London, Ontario. The ideal candidate has prior experience in a legal or administrative role, with preference for experience in family law. This role will support both the lawyer and paralegal with client intake, call handling, scheduling, file management, document organization, and general administrative support.
The role is remote-first at the start, with a planned transition to hybrid or in-person work as operational needs grow. The successful candidate must be organized, professional, and comfortable dealing with sensitive client matters.
Primary Responsibilities
- Answer incoming calls and assist with initial client intake
- Schedule consultations, meetings, deadlines, and follow-ups
- Conduct conflict searches and assist with opening and closing files
- Prepare and organize retainer, privacy, and intake documents
- Maintain organized electronic and paper files
- Draft basic client correspondence under supervision
- Track deadlines, bring-forward dates, and lawyer/paralegal calendars
- Assist with organizing disclosure, court forms, and client documents
- Support administrative tasks, including scanning, saving, naming, and filing documents
- Communicate with clients professionally and sensitively, especially in family law matters
- Work under the instruction and supervision of the lawyer and paralegal
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a legal or administrative role
- Family law experience is strongly preferred
- Experience with client intake, phone calls, scheduling, and file management
- Strong communication skills and ability to handle sensitive conversations professionally
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently while keeping the lawyer/paralegal informed
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Experience with LEAP or willingness to learn is an asset
- Positive, professional attitude and strong work ethic
Salary
Target hiring range: $38,000–$45,000 per year, based on full-time employment.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience, family law exposure, administrative skill, communication ability, and proficiency with legal technology. Candidates with strong intake, scheduling, file management, and family law document experience will be considered at the higher end of the range.
