Shipping & Receiving Lead
General Description:
-
Coordinates the daily workload activities of the Shipping & Receiving department.
-
Process all outbound shipping orders and all inbound delivery receipts.
-
Assign Pick orders for (FedEx or UPS), LTL or FTL to optimize the resources, work flow efficiency, and truck pick up schedule.

Coordinate all International Shipments to ensure proper preparation and documentation is provided. Contact shipping companies to handle any special requirements.

Combine orders to maximize the freight rate savings and reduce number of separate shipments to our customers.

Audit Picks for possible order entry errors and coordinate with CSR’s when there is a question about incorrect charges or quantity issues.

Contact freight carrier to negotiate best freight rates and service costs for Karcher outbound shipments.

Contact freight carrier dispatchers to schedule outbound shipments.
-
Respond to Customer Service requests for expedited or after hours special shipments.
-
Audit the completed Picks and prepared pallet before Bill of Lading is processed.
- Prepare Bills of Lading and other system transaction to complete inventory movement records.
-
Inspect and ensure that receipts have proper documentation and are delivered to designated storage locations and are properly stored.

Notify supervision when supply levels (such as pallets, stretch wrap, labels, tape) are low.

Perform safety inspections on all material handling equipment and notify supervisor of any issues.

Move finished goods pallets from production area to warehouse storage locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Follow all written and verbal instructions regarding safety precautions and personal protective equipment.
-
Implement spill containment procedures and immediately notify Supervisor, EH&S Manager or Maintenance.
- Follow instructions on delivery picks (shipping orders) and notify customer service of any discrepancies.
- Clean up work area and equipment when completed or at the end of each shift.

Process all written and system documentation for customer shipments and inbound receipts.

Process all RMA returns and complete required documentation.

Execute Cycle Counts as directed.

Organize finished goods storage to ensure FIFO (First In First Out) system of inventory usage.

Ability to work over time as business needs require.
QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
-
Ability to pass DOT 49 CFR Hazardous shipping and materials handling certifications.
-
Good work ethic, self-motivated.
-
Comply with company issued attendance policy and procedures.
-
Ability to understand and perform basic math calculations
- Capable of using a calculator, electronic scales, programmable water meters, and other electrical equipment.

Good basic computer skills to enable efficient inventory movement transactions

Must be capable of operating both a stand up and sit down forklift and pass certification training.
-
Able to handle lifting requirements of the position.

Willingness to work in other areas of manufacturing as business demands require.

Must follow all company, safety and hazardous material handling rules and procedures.
- Ability to communicate and cooperate with supervisors and co-workers.

Demonstrate a commitment to manufacturing quality products and helping to control costs.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
-
High school
-
Forklift certification required
-
HazMat certified training required
-
DOT 49 CFR certification required
-
Minimum 12 months shipping and receiving experience
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively with supervisors, Lab personnel and co-workers.
