About the Role
Microland is looking for an experienced Electronics Bench Repair Technician to join our team in Markham. You’ll work at our facility diagnosing and repairing consumer audio products, with a primary focus on active and passive speakers and soundbars from leading brands including Klipsch, KEF, Polk, JBL, and more. You’ll also repair receivers, amplifiers, and other A/V electronics as needed.
Day to day, you’ll be at the bench: troubleshooting faulty circuits, soldering components, replacing and reconing drivers, and getting products back to factory spec. If you’re passionate about audio electronics and take pride in quality repair work, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair active (powered) and passive speakers, soundbars, and subwoofers from brands such as Klipsch, KEF, Polk, JBL, Sonos, Bose, and others
- Perform component-level soldering and board-level repair on amplifier circuits, crossover networks, DSP modules, and power supplies
- Replace and recone woofers, tweeters, mid-range drivers, and passive radiators
- Troubleshoot and repair receivers, integrated amplifiers, and other A/V electronics as assigned
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical service bulletins
- Use test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, audio analyzers, and signal generators to diagnose faults
- Document all repairs, parts used, and labor time accurately in the work order system
- Maintain a clean, organized workbench and adhere to ESD-safe handling procedures
- Communicate with the team on repair status, parts needs, and any recurring product issues
Qualifications Required
- 3–5 years of hands-on bench repair experience with consumer audio and/or A/V electronics
- Strong soldering skills including surface-mount and through-hole component work
- Experience with speaker driver replacement, reconing, and crossover repair
- Proficiency with electronic test and measurement equipment
- Ability to read schematics, service manuals, and wiring diagrams
- Solid understanding of analog and digital audio signal paths
- Detail-oriented with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working independently and managing multiple repairs simultaneously
Nice to Have
- Electronics diploma or certificate (or equivalent trade training)
- Familiarity with Class D amplifier topologies and switch-mode power supplies
- Experience with firmware updates and network/wireless troubleshooting on smart speakers
- Prior authorized service center experience with major audio brands
- Knowledge of woodworking or cabinet repair for speaker enclosures
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive hourly rate: $20–$25/hr based on experience
