Position Summary:
The Machine Operator (x2) - Bakery and Chocolate Line is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of production equipment used in the manufacture of Kinnikinnick Foods products. Through a commitment to quality, food safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement, the Machine Operator helps ensure products are produced safely, efficiently, and to customer expectations.
Skills Required
- Previous machine operation experience in a manufacturing or food production environment is considered an asset.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to safely operate, monitor, and make basic adjustments to production equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, production schedules, and food safety requirements.
- Ability to complete production records and documentation accurately.
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety, and workplace OHS requirements.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Physically capable of standing, walking, bending, lifting, and performing repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Duties
- Set up, operate, monitor, and adjust bakery production equipment, including cookie rotaries, wire-cut machines, bread depositors, and other production equipment as required.
- Ensure equipment is properly cleaned, sanitized, and inspected before, during, and after production runs.
- Verify product quality by monitoring weights, dimensions, appearance, and overall product specifications throughout production.
- Complete required production documentation, including batch records, production counts, and downtime tracking.
- Identify equipment concerns and communicate maintenance requirements promptly to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with equipment changeovers and product transitions to support production schedules and operational efficiency.
- Maintain compliance with all food safety, quality, GMP, HACCP, and health and safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
- Work collaboratively with Production, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Shipping, and Sanitation teams to support operational goals.
- Participate in training, cross-training, and continuous improvement initiatives as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Experience with food manufacturing machinery is an asset
- Machine Operator experience is an asset
- Capable of lifting, standing for long period of times and walking
- Developed mechanical aptitude; good understanding of equipment
- Working knowledge of bakery production
- Ability to prioritize work to meet demands of the production floor
- Fluent written/verbal communications skills in the English Language
- Good eye/hand coordination
- Food-safety experience/knowledge an asset
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced food manufacturing and bakery environment.
- Exposure to moving machinery, elevated noise levels, flour dust, and production activities.
- Work areas may be warm or hot, particularly when working near ovens, baking equipment, or during peak production periods.
- Regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive movements throughout the shift.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including CSA-approved steel-toed footwear, hearing protection, hair restraints, beard nets (where applicable), and other PPE as required.
- Compliance with all food safety, sanitation, allergen control, and workplace safety standards is required.
Schedule:
- 40 hour work week
- 4x10's
- Day shift
- No weekends
Shift:
6:45 am to 5:00 pm
