Job Summary
A Millwright in a food bakery plant is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment essential for food production. This role involves assembling bakery machinery such as ovens, mixers, and conveyors, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely. The millwright conducts routine maintenance, troubleshoots mechanical issues, and performs welding or fabrication tasks when required. Adhering to food safety standards, GMPs, and OSHA guidelines is crucial to maintaining a clean and compliant work environment. Strong mechanical skills, precision in equipment alignment, and a proactive approach to minimizing downtime are key to success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on industrial equipment and machinery.
- Install, assemble, and align bakery machinery such as ovens, conveyors, mixers, and packaging equipment.
- Follow blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals for accurate equipment placement.
- Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues, including gearboxes, bearings, belts, and motors.
- Lubricate machinery components and replace worn parts as needed.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure safety protocols are followed during maintenance tasks.
- Engage in continuous learning to stay updated on industry best practices and technologies.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Industrial Mechanic or similar role in an industrial setting.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in industrial maintenance.
- Proficiency in welding and fabrication
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitary requirements
- Experience with conveyors, mixers, ovens, and other bakery-specific equipment
- Ability to read technical manuals and blueprints effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate effectively across departments.
- Certification or training in relevant fields such as MILLWRIGHT is required.
- Food and Bakery experience would be an asset.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
