Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Granite Saw Operator / Stone Cutter to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating specialized granite cutting machinery to cut, shape, and finish granite flagstone, steps, Armour stone, etc, for various construction and design projects. The Granite Saw Operator will ensure precision, safety, and efficiency while maintaining high-quality standards in the cutting process. The ideal candidate works well in a team production environment and is detailed and process oriented.
Responsibilities
- Operate granite cutting saws, including wire saws, and other cutting equipment, to cut granite boulders as per project specifications.
- Ensure accurate measurements and cuts by following blueprints, sketches, or project specifications.
- Monitor and adjust the saw settings to ensure optimal cutting speed, accuracy, and finish quality.
- Inspect finished product for defects, ensuring they meet quality standards before shipment or installation.
- Maintain and clean saw equipment regularly to ensure proper function and longevity.
- Monitor material inventory and report any shortages or damaged materials.
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist in the setup and calibration of saws and other cutting machinery.
- Collaborate with other team members, including fabricators and designers, to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform basic maintenance or repairs as needed.
- Maintain records of daily activities, including production counts and maintenance reports.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment, granite cutting saws or similar machinery in a manufacturing or construction setting.
- Strong understanding of granite cutting techniques, tools, and safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and project specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good physical condition and ability to lift heavy materials as required.
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and safety practices.
- Driver License
Preferred Skills
Certification in machinery operation or relevant safety training.
Working Conditions
Full-time position with occasional overtime required. Ability to work in a noisy and dusty environment. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection.
