Job Title: Early Childhood Educator (ECE)

Position Overview:
We are seeking passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Educators to join our team at Oakland Childcare Centre. As an ECE, you will play a key role in supporting the growth and development of young children in a nurturing and stimulating environment. You will work collaboratively with other staff to create an inclusive, safe, and enriching experience for all children in accordance with the principles of How Does Learning Happen? and Ontario’s Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA).
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate activities and programs for children aged 0-5, ensuring they align with the developmental needs and interests of each child.
- Foster a warm, inclusive, and positive learning environment that supports the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of children.
- Promote a strong sense of belonging and well-being among children, families, and staff.
- Observe and document children’s progress, milestones, and behaviors, and communicate with families regularly to support their child's learning journey.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a high-quality educational program and a safe, clean, and organized environment.
- Assist with daily routines, including mealtimes, outdoor play, and nap times.
- Follow health and safety guidelines and ensure the safety and security of children at all times.
- Participate in regular staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain and organize classroom records, including attendance.
Qualifications:
- Early Childhood Education Diploma (or equivalent) recognized by the Ministry of Education in Ontario.
- Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
- Experience working with children in a licensed childcare setting.
- Knowledge of Ontario's Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and How Does Learning Happen? pedagogy.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Clear criminal background check (Vulnerable Sector Screening) required.
- Health assessment and up to date immunizations as per the health unit.
