Responsibilities
- Safely operate flatbed trucks to transport freight over long and short distances, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Secure loads properly using straps, chains, and tarps to prevent shifting or damage during transit
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and load security equipment
- Assist with loading and unloading freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment when necessary
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate deliveries and pickups
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, cargo details, and inspection reports in compliance with federal regulations
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to ensure vehicle reliability and safety
Skills
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Experience operating flatbed trucks in various weather conditions and terrains
- Proficiency in freight handling and securing loads on flatbeds
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of automotive repair basics for troubleshooting minor vehicle issues
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to commercial driving and heavy equipment operation
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and clients
