POSITION OVERVIEW
As a People & Culture Specialist you will play a critical role in strengthening the YMCA’s organizational effectiveness by providing advanced, hands-on HR support across the full employee lifecycle. This role operates with a high degree of independence and judgment, serving as a trusted advisor to leaders while ensuring consistent, compliant, and people-centred practices.
You will be working across multiple departments and stakeholder groups, the Senior Generalist balances operational execution with strategic contribution supporting workforce planning, employee relations, immigration, compliance, systems, and continuous improvement. This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional who thrives in complex environments, understands the realities of frontline operations, and is motivated by meaningful community impact.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee Relations & Leadership Support
- Provide guidance and support to leaders on employee relations, performance management, attendance management, workplace conduct, accommodations, and conflict resolution.
- Support workplace investigations, performance improvement processes, and documentation.
- Interpret organizational policies and employment legislation to support sound decision-making.
- Build strong relationships with leaders while promoting consistent and people-centered practices.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Lead full-cycle recruitment activities, including posting positions, screening candidates, interviewing, reference checking, and preparing offers.
- Coordinate onboarding activities to support a positive employee experience.
- Partner with leaders to identify staffing needs and workforce planning opportunities.
- Promote equitable, inclusive, and compliant hiring practices.
HR Systems, Reporting & Dayforce Administration
- Serve as a key resource for Dayforce administration, troubleshooting, reporting, and user support.
- Support system optimization, testing, process improvements, and implementation of new functionality.
- Develop reports, dashboards, and analytics to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Compliance & Immigration Support
- Support compliance with employment legislation, organizational policies, and internal procedures.
- Assist with immigration-related processes, work authorization tracking, and documentation requirements.
- Support audits, reporting requirements, and policy administration activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce organizational risk.
Learning, Development & Continuous Improvement
- Support leader and employee training initiatives, including Dayforce training and system adoption.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, guides, and standard operating procedures.
- Contribute to change management initiatives and continuous improvement projects across the organization.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- As a Full-Time Staff of YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick staff person. Your hours of work and location may be adjusted due to programming needs. There is no guarantee of the number of hours worked within a work week.
- The YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick has a Joint Health and Safety Committee which meets on a monthly basis to discuss health and safety within the workplace. Questions or concerns about your workplace must be brought forward to committee members.
- In this role, you will be required to work in an environment which is often busy with high levels of noise.
- As a YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick staff person, you are responsible for your own travel to and from work.
- You are responsible for the member/client’s safety on a daily basis. You will be required to perform first aid and CPR when and if necessary and you are certified to do so.
- You will be responsible to follow and abide by YMCA Service that shines Standards, ensuring a clean and well-maintained Centre is required by all staff persons.
