Join Our Mission at the Calgary Drop-In Centre
At the Calgary Drop-In and Rehab Centre (the DI), we’re looking for passionate, community-minded people who know that kindness can change lives.
Whether you’re helping guests find housing, supporting their recovery journey, or keeping our operations running strong, your work here truly matters. Every role at the DI is about creating possibilities for others, and for yourself.
Who We Are
The Calgary Drop-In and Rehab Centre (the DI) is a low-barrier, housing-focused organization serving some of Calgary’s most vulnerable community members.
We believe everyone deserves dignity, safety, and the opportunity to thrive. Every day, our team meets people where they’re at — offering basic needs, compassion, and connection while helping them move toward stable, permanent housing.
Our work is guided by the principles of housing first, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and recovery-oriented practice. But above all, we’re guided by people — their stories, their strengths, and their potential.
When you join the DI, you’re joining a team built on respect, collaboration, and heart.
The Opportunity
Position Title: Coordinator, Diversion
Reports To: Senior Manager, Housing
Employment Type: Full Time Contract
Schedule: 5 days on/2 days off, Monday to Friday
Location: 1 Dermot Baldwin Way SE, Calgary, Alberta
About the Department
Diversion (Rapid Response) actively engages new or returning guests (i.e. guests who have not stayed with us for 6 months or longer) to help prevent unnecessary entry into the emergency shelter or to support their exit as quickly as possible. The Rapid Resolution program works within a 21-day timeframe, which starts on the first day a guest requires services. If a guest requires additional support beyond that period, the team refers them to our DI Housing Supports team for continued assistance so that each person has every opportunity to exit homelessness.
What You’ll Do
Every role at the DI makes a difference. In this position, you will:
- Lead, coach, and inspire a team of Diversion Workers and Housing Locators by fostering professional growth, monitoring and optimizing caseloads, and creating a supportive environment that empowers staff to deliver exceptional, trauma-informed, person-centered care with empathy and resilience.
- Serve as a responsive and hands-on leader, providing ongoing guidance and support across multiple channels, championing staff development through meaningful performance coaching and reviews, and partnering with the team to navigate complex client housing needs and achieve impactful outcomes.
- Champion data-driven impact by ensuring comprehensive client information is collected from day one and designing meaningful data collection milestones at intake, 21 days, and beyond to measure progress, inform decision-making, and strengthen outcomes for clients and the program.
- Leverage expertise in housing resources, income supports, tax programs, and community services to connect individuals with the tools they need to secure and sustain housing, while partnering closely with the Housing Hub and Housing Locator to drive successful housing outcomes and create lasting impact.
- Forge and strengthen impactful partnerships across community agencies, landlords, service providers, and internal DI programs, while championing collaboration, mentoring and empowering staff in diversion best practices, coordinating innovative service delivery and data strategies, and connecting clients and teams to the right resources to advance our shared mission of ending chronic homelessness.
- Lead and coordinate high-impact Diversion services across the DI’s 4th and 5th floors, ensuring timely, client-centered support reaches those who need it most, while advocating intervention and housing solutions for individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness on Dermot Baldwin Way.
As a leader, you’ll balance compassion with accountability, ensuring coordinated, high-quality, client-centered care. You’ll mentor a diverse and talented team, foster collaboration, and help shape housing programming that changes lives.
