Core Technical Skills
- Programming Languages: COBOL (primary), Assembler, PL/I, and JCL (Job Control Language).
- Databases & File Systems: DB2 for z/OS, IMS DB, and VSAM.
- Transaction Processing: CICS (Customer Information Control System).
- Environment & Tools: TSO/ISPF, z/OS operating system, REXX, File-AID, and BMC.
- Debugging & Utilities: RMF, Abend-AID, and system utilities.
Functional/Functional Design Skills
SDLC Proficiency: Experience in full software development life cycles (SDLC).
Documentation: Creating technical and functional design documents, mapping business requirements to technical specs.
Performance Optimization: Tuning batch jobs and SQL queries to enhance system performance.
Troubleshooting: Strong analytical skills for analyzing logs (SYSOUT), debugging dumps, and resolving production issues.
Testing: Developing and executing unit test cases and system integration testing.
Roles & Responsibilities
Application Development: Writing, testing, and debugging applications using languages such as COBOL, JCL, SQL, and CICS.
System Maintenance: Modifying and updating existing software to meet new requirements and improve performance.
Database Management: Interacting with databases such as DB2, IMS, or VSAM to manage large data sets.
Documentation: Creating technical specifications, user manuals, and documentation for new programs.
Troubleshooting: Identifying, analyzing, and r esolving technical issues (production support) to prevent system downtime.
Collaboration: Working with teams to analyze user needs and deliver integrated IT solutions.
Salary Range - CA$ 100,000 - CA$ 130,000 Per Year
