We are seeking a dedicated Full-Time Center Director with Level 3, who’s ready to inspire young minds. As the Director, you lead a nurturing, child‑centered program that blends Montessori principles with play‑based learning.
We’re a locally owned and operated child care center located in the heart of downtown Calgary.
The Director will be responsible for managing all facets of center operations, with a focus on regulatory compliance, delivering high-quality programming, fostering effective team leadership, and cultivating strong connections with families and the broader community. Your role will include:
- Inspire and guide educators and staff to build a supportive, team-focused work environment
- Ensure all child care practices meet Childcare licensing requirements and health and safety standards
- Guide the development of a curriculum that balances Montessori materials, purposeful activities, and open‑ended play.
- Oversee day-to-day center operations, including enrolment, staffing schedules, and family communication
- Support educators in preparing calm, orderly, and engaging environments that encourage independence, choice, and hands‑on learning.
- Partner with owners and leadership to plan strategically and enhance program quality
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with provincial guidelines
- Build strong connections with families and create a warm, inclusive atmosphere
- Support and implement curriculum that aligns with Alberta Early Childhood Education standards
- Understand and operate within the licensed and subsidized child care framework
- Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and licensing standards through regular inspections and audits.
- Organizing and leading tours for prospective families, showcasing the center’s programs and environment.
- Planning and managing the budget for educational materials, food, and other operational supplies to support daily activities.
Your Qualifications & Skills
We’re looking for someone who brings both heart and expertise to the role. Ideal candidates will have:
- A valid Early Childhood Educator Certification Level 3
- Up-to-date First Aid Certification, or a willingness to obtain it promptly
- A clear Police Background Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Physical ability to lift up to 20 lbs and actively engage in hands-on programming
- Familiarity with Alberta’s child care licensing standards
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in childcare or early learning settings.
- Montessori training or experience is an asset (good to have).
- Strong understanding of play‑based learning, child development, and inclusive practices.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and team‑building skills.
- Knowledge of Alberta licensing standards and best practices in early childhood education.

Pay: $24.00-$30.00 per hour
