About L'Arche:
L'Arche is an International federation of communities seeking to make known the gifts of people with disabilitiies through mutually transforming relationships.
L'Arche offers a unique model of housing where people with and without developmental disabilities live in homes together. Those with disabilities in a L'Arche community are central to shaping who we are, and so they are called "Core Members". Those who live in homes to provide support and learn from Core Members are called "Assistants".
L'Arche Hamilton has multiple homes as well as two day programs. Day Programs are places where people with developmental disabilities can go throughout the day to engage in a variety of recreational activities. L'Arche Hamilton also started a social-enterprise cafe that operates out of the Bernie Morelli Recreation Centre called Inclusion Coffeehouse
Coffeehouse Volunteer Role:
L'Arche Hamilton and Inclusion Coffeehouse are looking for volunteers who can work alongside adults with developmental disabilities to engage in tasks such as: baking, making coffee, taking orders, using a POS, wiping tables, washing dishes and more.
An ideal volunteer would be able to volunteer once per week on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday for 4-5 hours.
Attributes of a good Volunteer:
a good volunteer is someone who is excited to be in a cafe setting, someone who is patient and kind, someone who is willing to learn new things.
